Museums
Through the collective effort (no pun intended) of loads of volunteers, Mason is proud to host not one, but two very substantial museums. One of the featured items in the Museum on the Square is North America's largest topaz, found in Mason County and on loan from the Smithsonian Institution. Learn about the unique history of Mason County, which covers such people and subjects as Robert E Lee (his tenure at Fort Mason), Indian Captives and the Hoo Doo War.
