Bat Cave
With over 6 million Mexican free-tailed bats (Tadarida brasiliensis), the Eckert James River Bat Cave is a must see experience. Since the bats are migratory, this event is seasonal, with an interpreter present each evening from mid-May to early October. The hours are Thursday-Sunday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Some sunrise tours of the bats returning from their nocturnal hunts also are offered.
